Portrait of Waseca County, 2008 The Waseca Arts Council has been awarded a $4,000 Legacy Grant in support of the artist’s fee for the 2008 project, Portrait of Waseca County, 2008. Funds to support this grant award have come from the Minnesota State Legislature in recognition of 2008 being the State’s Sesquicentennial year, and thus Waseca County and the WAC is recognized as an official site. Portrait of Waseca County, 2008 is a year long project working with David Morano, art professor from Mankato. It will cumulate with an exhibition of images and individual stories extending across the whole of Waseca County. The exhibition will be held from Oct. 3 – Nov. 22, 2008, and may follow with smaller shows in other County communities. Besides landscapes photographs, sixteen people from across the County have been selected to be portrayed. These are men and women who live in Waseca County and have unique or interesting life stories. A good cross section of people have been selected from all parts of the county. They are people who have led interesting lives, met with some successes, maybe some failures, and have not yet had the opportunity to tell their story. Not all individual are life long residents. .
